David Harris – Founder & CEO

February 14, 2005 is a day that changed my life forever. At the age of 19, my son Cameron committed suicide. As the founder of the charitable organization CameronHelps, a volunteer running coach at a local hospital, and as a public speaker it is my goal to make a difference: to save one life at a time. This mission is only achieved through the support and dedication of all individuals. Being a runner is a passion of mine. I know the tremendous mental, physical and spiritual benefits running offers. It helped me through my darkest of days. For this reason, I believe our Team Unbreakable Running Programs are very important, along with all of the awareness activities and initiatives we are developing. I cannot thank you enough for helping CameronHelps in achieving our mission.

Jennifer Brighton MSW, RSW, CCP – Director, Clinical

Jennifer joined CameronHelps in 2009, bringing her skills as an experienced Clinician and Coach. Jennifer has working in the mental health sector since 1993. She is the successful owner of Brighton Counselling, Psychotherapy & Coaching where she treats adolescents and adults either individually or in the context of their family. Jennifer is passionate about her work and believes that through the work of CameronHelps we will “save one life at a time”.

Keith Madley – Director, Finance

He has been a Board Director, Treasurer and Director of Finance in the non profit sector. He has extensive experience in the public sector having spent 20 years with the Province of Ontario in senior management roles including Director or CFO in various departments such as the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Corrections. He also has experience in the private sector in financial management and planning.  Presently Keith is Director of Finance at Fred Victor, a large Toronto based social services agency.  Keith is also a volunteer director and Treasurer of CameronHelps.

Hugh Williams – Director, Secretary

Hugh is one of the founding Directors of CameronHelps and is currently the organization’s Secretary.  Hugh is a business development and marketing executive within Ontario’s IT sector. He has national and international experience in project management, communications, sales, marketing, and his work typically focuses on helping organizations “liberate their information”.  Hugh brings to the Board several years of experience in the social profit sector.  He is Co-Chair and Communications Director for Toronto Ribfest; and, as a long-time Rotarian, is incoming President of the Rotary Club of Etobicoke for 2012-13.  As a father of four young adults, he brings that passion to our team along with an understanding of the issues faced by teens.

David Rowney – Director, Communications

David joined CameronHelps in 2010. He graduated in journalism from Carleton University and embarked on a career as a reporter and editor before joining the public relations field. For the past 20 years he has worked for major corporations in senior communications roles.  Currently he is at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where he is responsible for managing their public relations.  David is an accredited member of the Canadian Public Relations Society (APR), a CPRS Fellow, and a former president of the Toronto Society. He is also an avid runner and an occasional marathoner. David also knows first-hand the tragedy of teen suicide after one of his neighbours lost their daughter this way.

Bryn Perras – Director, Volunteer Coordinator

Bryn is one of the seven founding Directors of CameronHelps and is currently serving the organization as the Volunteer Coordinator. Bryn works as HR Director at Encore Cinemas, an independent movie theatre, while working towards completion of her teaching certification. Joining the team as a young adult, and continuing to work with teens in the movie theatre environment has allowed the issues of mental health and teenage suicide to remain relevant in her life. She has adopted the CameronHelps slogan of “saving one life at a time” to her every day interactions with youth and plans to make that her cornerstone philosophy when she becomes a highschool teacher.
