Partner Delivered Programs
Recent science has shown there is a significant correlation between physical fitness and mental health hence The Team Unbreakable Youth Running Therapy Program. Our current 5 year plan includes a research component to compile, analyze and utilize the data to refine and support the use of physical fitness therapy.
For those not interested in running, a similar program based in the relationship between physical and mental health called Motivation Through Movement is in development.
CameronHelps also intends to establish a network of therapists and a financial pool to assist youth with financial needs to get the help they need.
Team UNBREAKABLE Youth Running Therapy
The Team UNBREAKABLE Youth Running Therapy is a exercise-based approach to treating or supplementing treatment of affective disorders such as stress, anxiety, and depression in youth. It is modelled after the highly successful “Running Group Therapy Program” developed by Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
The Team UNBREAKABLE Youth Running Therapy program is organized under the supervision of a hospital or community based treatment organization and run by trained professionals with experienced volunteers.
Motivation Through Movement
We are designing Motivation Through Movement with clinical therapist and CameronHelps board member Jennifer Brighton, MSW.
This is an integrated program of therapy which builds on the relationship between physical fitness and mental health but is not necessarily running based. This program also builds on some of the current research which indicates that not only is aerobic exercise beneficial but also exercise which involves complex motor movements.
It is also our intention to establish a research relationship, such as with a university, to correlate, analyze and report on The Team Unbreakable Youth Running Therapy Program and Motivation Through Movement Program data with the goal to be able to better optimize the fitness activities and level of activities relative to the mental disorder being treated.
Financial Assistance Outreach
We are designing our Financial Assistance Outreach Program under the leadership of clinical therapist and CameronHelps board member Jennifer Brighton, MSW
For those youth who want to get help there is often a significant financial roadblock which prohibits their receiving treatment. Provincial health insurance often only covers those situations with intake and admittance through hospital emergency programs. For a majority of others who need help, they seek the help of a therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist in private practice. This is generally covered by private health insurance plans, up to plan limits, or for those who don’t have supplemental insurance plans, the cost is borne by the family. In many cases therapy is not obtained due to financial restrictions
